Addendum
And a few other things
Dear subscribers,
As you know, I’ve embarked on a series of posts about our food experiences here in Portugal. We’ll next travel to Evora and the Algarve, but I did want to share an additional Lisbon food experience with you.
A couple of weeks ago we went to dinner with a friend of ours who lives in our neighborhood. He suggested an Indian restaurant called “Ghandi Palace.” “Where is it?” I asked. “It’s just around the corner,” he responded. So, off we went to Ghandi Palace, joined by David’s mother who was here on a visit.
Over the years I’ve grown to love Indian food. When we lived in Chicago, we often ate at a family-run Indian restaurant where “Auntie” made the best butter chicken I’ve ever put in my mouth. Well, I say the best, until now. The food at Ghandi Palace is amazing. We’ve lived here for over two years now and had no idea the place existed. It is literally around the corner! It’s not marked well, so you have to know it’s there or you would miss it. I think they can seat about 20-22 people. We’ve already been back and plan to go back as often as possible. The prices are reasonable—actually, a bargain. Two of us can have a main course, drinks, Naan, and rice for around 30 euros.
Our new favorite Indian restaurant was right under our noses! Finding this gem now has me curious about other restaurants right around where we live. Stay tuned!
Note: I write posts in another Substack, mostly on theological subjects. This week I wrote about the influence of my mother on my spirituality and political leanings. Regardless of your political leanings, it might be of interest to you if you want to know a little more about my background and experiences. You can find the post here:

Thank you. I am always ready to eat good food. I have passed this restaurant several times and never checked it out. Now I shall.
Thanks for the review - but seems like there are 2 of them. One near Rossio metro and one in Bairro Alto. Which one did you go to? Muito obrigada!
